Seamstress and artisan, Aunty Babs Rogers grew up and lives on the island of Oahu in the Hawai`ian Islands in the little beach town of Kailua. Her Hawai`ian Dolls are her pride and joy, skillfully hand crafting each one. Aunty designed her first doll a few years ago as a wedding gift center pieces for a niece. She wanted to create a special maternal remembrance of her home in the islands. This quickly led to special orders for the ohana (family), friends and eventually she's made them available for others. A mother of two grown children and wife of island singer-songwriter Bobby Rogers, Aunty Bab's first starting knitting Christmas stockings for family and friends, then moving to Hawai`ian quilts and baby blankets. She eventually started creating stuffed dolls to go with her blankets. This then led to her Hawaiian Dolls. She so enjoys her arts and crafts, sharing her sense of aloha with folks. Aunty also donates her crafts and dolls to Kapiolani Medical Center maternity ward and the Toy Closet at the Yale New Haven Hospital in Conneticut.
Today she continues to expand her arts and crafts, creating memorable gifts and collectables from the islands. |
